The special ingredient for this new kitchen was the beautiful quartz worktop, adding a real feeling of quality and lifting the space to eliminate the feeling of crowding from the low ceiling.

This was the brief for this kitchen and utility room in the basement floor of a lovely New Mills stone terrace house. The ceiling was low, there was an unnecessary window through to the utility room and the existing radiator wasn’t able to cope with warming the room and the deep stone walls.

The kitchen we designed made good use of the space for:
• Storage
• Enjoyable cooking experience
• Family dining (with high chair)

The before an after of this kitchen, showing the fresh lift of the quartz in the new layout.

The quartz we used for this kitchen is ‘Carrara Flowery’ – a white quartz with a natural looking marbling. The white is a natural hue which means the quartz doesn’t look man made.

The under-mounted Caple sink looks stunning with the swan like tap just the right dimension rising above it. The grooves have been cut perfectly by our supplier for the draining board area. See the video below if you want an inside look at how they prepare and install these quartz kitchen worktops.

One thing to be conscious of when planning appliances, such as a hob with your worktop, is to make sure you choose one that compliments the quality of the quartz. This example is a Caple gas hob, not as expensive as say a Bosch or Neff, but the design and quality is excellent and really finishes this part of the kitchen nicely.

The finish of the quartz, the polish and edging looks and feels sensational. The light reflects pleasingly from the new ceiling spotlights and the under cabinet lighting.

Quartz isn’t cheap, but then when you consider the value it brings to your kitchen aesthetically and therefore the value of your home, it is well worth the investment.

We’ll be following the installation of this particular kitchen to bring you a real insight into what’s involved with designing and installing, with video and before and after pictures. You can see the progress on our instagram – don’t forget to sign-up for our latest articles here.
